Jon the Pom started Brewing out of his own kitchen, tinkering with his recipes and generally making a mess of his wife’s kitchen as he honed his skills. After taking the serious step to study brewing full-time he graduated from Ballarat and began plotting his own adventure, Badlands Brewery. Jon decided to set up Badlands in Orange, famed for its cool climate wines and growing ‘local produce’ scene. Welcomed with warmth by the community. Jon opened the brewery this year as part of a superb farmer/café venue called Totally Local. Badlands may be craft beer by category but Jon is always keen to portray that he simply wanted to make what he calls ‘dangerously drinkable beers’.
The IPA is a Hoplover’s dream. Jon adds a blend of Cascade and Sauvion hops to give it a spicy, citrus hit. The solid malt backbone and assertive bitterness brings the beer back into balance. Notes from Brewery
