From the Denton Vineyard, which is a little outcrop of granite in the otherwise largely granite free Yarra Valley, by most accounts, is looking like a very good vintage for the Yarra.
Gee, this is a high quality wine for $25. Bramble fruit and summer berry pudding, plenty of cracked pepper and meaty whole bunch spice, even has a violet perfume about it. Medium bodied, fleshy, fruit driven with a core of mineral texture allied to fresh mixed berry fruit, melting fine grained tannin, and all that meat and graphite and savoury spice pulling through on a pretty sure footed finish. This goes forward as the best Crudo Shiraz to date.
