Screwcap. It's not often you find pristine, balanced, vinous white Burgundy you can offer at around forty bucks, but this "peerless winemaker" (M. Bettane) has crafted a number from 2014. Verget's Terres de Pierres or 'field of stones' is arguably the best value white Burgundy we ship, and the 2014, reflecting the quality of the year, is quite something. A racy, stony, yet textured white Burgundy crafted entirely from free-run juices, it comes from a range of parcels that can vary each vintage. The 2014 is a great year for this wine, reflecting the overall quality of the vintage. It is unbelievably seductive and complex for this price level, with vibrant pink grapefruit, white flowers, stone-fruits, zesty sherbet and subtle honey notes, a pulpy yet racy texture and a mouth-watering, chalky finish. Quivering tension. A must try. - Importer's notes.
